Blackwood versus Newport Steelers

Away game 27th September 2009

What a glorious day to kick off the season, Blackwood needed to start the season off with a win and didn’t disappoint the team were up for the challenge from the out set of the game with great forward domination which resulted in the first try and conversion followed 7-0.

From the restart Blackwood again took the game to Newport and ran in another try which was converted 14-0.

The game now settled with both sides trying to attack at every opportunity but Blackwood were the stronger of the two sides with a great try under the posts and converted 21-0.

The game restarted with both sides cancelling out attacks on each other and for over 15 minutes no real flourish from both sides but Blackwood dropped the ball over the line on several occasions. but this was the kick start they needed and they scored a great try under the posts which was converted 28-0 this was the final score but with better ball handling skills should have been a lot better.
